SanDisk says Samsung offer for $5.85B buyout “undervalues” company

MILPITAS, Calif. – SanDisk Corp., the world’s largest supplier of flash storage card products, has shrugged off an attempt by Samsung Electronics Co. to acquire the company for $5.85 billion.

Industry analysts viewed Samsung’s $26-per-share cash offer for the Milpitas-based company as a reflection of turbulence in the market for flash memory. SanDisk’s products include: flash memory cards for mobile phones, digital cameras and camcorders, digital audio/video players, USB flash drives, embedded memory for mobile devices, and solid state drives for computers.

However, SanDisk’s executives, including co-founder, president and chief operating officer Sanjay Mehrotra, stated that the offer undervalued SanDisk and the company’s business potential in the future.
